JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Analyst will monitor financial positions risk against bank’s approved thresholds/limits. The Senior Analyst’s work will support Treasury’s mandate of providing stable earnings to the Bank by providing business insight and recommendations to ensure the daily risk position of the Bank is accurate and all known significant events are accounted for and communicated to stakeholders on a timely basis.
The Senior Analyst is expected to explain changes in risk metrics driven by hedging strategies and/or triggered by various business reasons such as position changes, market events or other significant events that may introduce shift in underlying factors to portfolio risks.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support key stakeholders through established daily reporting processes.
  • Provided analysis, resolution to reported risk metrics discrepancies and escalated non-compliance activities and disagreement to senior management adherence to bank established standards.
  • Performed end-of-period reporting activities including Hedge Accounting and Financial Positions monthly meeting.
  • Take ownership of current processes and pro-actively make changes or propose initiatives to improve overall efficiencies and best-in-class business decision support.
  • On a as needed basis, participate in infrastructure changes with regards to implementation of new/revised frameworks, new products or processes and ensure that changes are executed in accordance with internal change control procedures and EUC standards.
  • Support the team through various group-wide initiatives.
  • Foster and maintain effective working relationships with business partners.
  • Understand and comply with TD Policies, regulatory and compliance requirements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Competencies and Personal Qualities:

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills. Ability to leverage modern technology/visualization tools, such as SQL and Tableau, to explain complicated concepts in a clear and concise manner to senior and executive level audiences.
  • Self-starter with a proven ability to meet deadlines, own initiatives, and work effectively under minimum supervision. Ability to complete end-to-end cycle of projects/initiatives.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving capabilities. An ideal candidate is self-driven individual with a strong sense of curiosity, able to assess potential drivers and resolutions when issues rise.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills to simplify/resolve complex business issues.
  • Excellent time management skills working under fast-paced environment and competing timelines. Able to multitask while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Quick to learn and apply new concepts.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; team player.

Experience:

  • 2 – 3 years financial service or consulting practice experience in the areas of Asset Liability Management, risk management, accounting and/or finance.
  • Superior understanding of capital market instruments including bond and interest rate derivatives.
  • Superior understanding of risk measurement and valuation concepts (cash flows, PV, IRR, duration, convexity, etc.).
  • Solid knowledge of retail banking product features and characteristics.
  • Proficient with computer tools (SQL, Tableau) for data query, visualization and analytics.

Responsibilities

The Market Risk Measurement and Analytics (MRMA) team within TBSM is responsible for regular measuring and reporting on interest rate, equity, and foreign exchange risks for TD non-trading portfolios. The mandates for this position include:

  • Produce daily risk report(s) focused on understanding current market risk exposure and implication to associated risk limits.
  • Conduct analysis on day-over-day/period-over-period change in market risk metrics as part of validation and understanding of key drivers to portfolio risk.
  • Certify data/results quality to assist senior management, ALM and Front Office partners on business decision making.
  • Adhere to the bank’s established policies in governance, control and risk management practices to ensure quality of results.
  • Effectively communicating/presenting our results and insights to our stakeholders through scheduled presentations and/or ad-hoc business-driven meetings
