This role is central to shaping the strategic direction and driving client and market engagement for Aon’s casualty reinsurance portfolio across Australia and New Zealand. Joining as a senior broker, you will have overall Account Management and Lead Broker responsibilities across some of the broadest reinsurance placements in the Australian and New Zealand markets. In addition to ensuring local casualty best practice, you will contribute to regional and global practice groups, bringing thought leadership into the Pacific region. The successful candidate will be a recognised market practitioner with a strong reputation for structuring and delivering robust casualty reinsurance solutions. You will act as a trusted adviser to senior insurance executives while maintaining deep relationships across the global reinsurance market. What the day will look like This role combines strategic leadership, client engagement, and market‑facing broking activity, and will suit an experienced casualty reinsurance practitioner looking to shape and grow a market‑leading casualty portfolio. Your day-to-day activities will include: Account Management and Lead Broker responsibilities for nominated accounts in the Pacific Region – including the full breadth of client advice, consulting, negotiation and placement of resulting reinsurance programmes. Developing and maintaining client plans, identifying regional opportunities, and building a strong understanding of client business needs (financial, commercial, capital, strategic, etc.). Collaborating with clients to understand their risk management needs and objectives, and working together to propose and implement appropriate strategies. Partnering with colleagues across the organisation to ensure solutions meet client objectives and are aligned with market appetite. Developing and presenting comprehensive reinsurance proposals to clients. Negotiating terms, conditions and pricing with reinsurance underwriters. Overseeing the placement process and ensuring timely execution of reinsurance transactions. Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, underwriters and other stakeholders in the reinsurance market. Playing an active role in preparing and presenting proposals to prospective clients. Working closely with all levels of Aon team members to ensure effective delivery of Aon United capabilities to clients in the Pacific Region. Skills and experience that will lead to success Significant experience in reinsurance broking and/or underwriting, with a proven track record in managing casualty focused reinsurance transactions. Strong technical knowledge of reinsurance principles, products and market practices. Exceptional negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and influence stakeholders at all levels. Excellent written and verbal presentation skills, including report writing and tender preparation. Strong analytical and numerical skills, including balance sheet analysis and client research capabilities, with the ability to interpret complex data and make sound recommendations. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Professional demeanour and strong business ethics. Ability to work effectively under pressure and with a high degree of autonomy.
