Job Summary: The Senior Accident & Health (A&H) Underwriter is responsible for underwriting, portfolio performance management, and supporting delegated authority (binder) arrangements across Accident & Health - Personal Accident and Travel portfolios. This role balances technical underwriting excellence with commercial acumen, ensuring profitable growth, disciplined portfolio management, and robust governance of delegated underwriting partners. Job Duties: Technical Underwriting/Portfolio Management Underwrite new and renewal A&H risks in accordance with underwriting guidelines and risk appetite. Assess complex or non-standard risks including group personal accident, corporate travel, credit card schemes, and affinity programs. Provide referral support and technical guidance to junior underwriters. Own and actively manage portfolio profitability (GWP, loss ratio, COR, rate adequacy). Conduct regular portfolio reviews and performance analytics. Identify emerging trends, claims drivers, and accumulation exposures. Recommend corrective underwriting actions (rate adjustments, wording changes, capacity management). Binder & Delegated Authority Management Oversee binder arrangements with MGAs, TPAs and distribution partners. Ensure compliance with underwriting authority, pricing frameworks and reporting standards. Monitor delegated performance against KPIs and loss ratio thresholds. Support onboarding of new binder partners, including due diligence and approval processes. Collaborate with compliance and risk teams to ensure regulatory adherence. Stakeholder & Relationship Management Build strong relationships with brokers, MGAs and internal stakeholders. Support RFP submissions and business development opportunities. Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 10+ years’ experience in Accident & Health underwriting. Demonstrated experience managing A&H or Travel insurance portfolios. Proven experience managing delegated authority / binder arrangements. Strong analytical capability and commercial judgement. Sound knowledge of regulatory requirements. Excellent stakeholder management and negotiation skills. · Positive and resilient attitude. · Ability to adapt to change in a fast-paced environment. · Experience in product development in A&H. · Possesses strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills.
