Job Description:
The Senior Underwriter plays an important part in providing Brokers and Clients with services that enhance the positive image of the AXA XL brand. The role therefore requires a significant amount of interaction with Clients, Brokers and internal stakeholders. Working as part of the Toronto Underwriting Team, the role will be focused on securing new business opportunities and managing a renewal portfolio, while providing leading edge solutions for client needs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • Extensive commercial Auto underwriting experience
  • Transportation class experience.
  • University degree
  • Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and takes the initiative on key tasks
  • Thorough knowledge of underwriting guidelines, rating methodologies, reinsurance concept and business processes
  • Robust Communication skills

Responsibilities

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Managing and underwriting a profitable book of new and renewal business per AXA XL’s underwriting guidelines, with emphasis on growth and excellent service standards.
  • Conducting risk review and analysis and determining terms and conditions as well as appropriate pricing in accordance with granted authority and AXA XL guidelines.
  • Being accountable for ensuring that new and renewed solutions are implemented and maintained according to the quality standards and in line with AXA XL processes and guidelines.
  • Cultivating key broker relationships to maintain a steady stream of business within our underwriting appetite.
  • Playing an important part in providing clients, both internal and external, with service that supports the positive image of the company. To do this the underwriter has a significant amount of contact with clients and brokers and deals worldwide with experts in order to gain co-operation within the network and to leverage the underwriting- as well as the business know-how.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager, Casualty.
