JOB DESCRIPTION

The Senior Underwriter plays an important part in providing Brokers and Clients with services that enhance the positive image of the AXA XL brand. The role therefore requires a significant amount of interaction with Clients, Brokers and internal stakeholders. Working as part of the Toronto Underwriting Team, the role will be focused on securing new business opportunities and managing a renewal portfolio, while providing leading edge solutions for client needs.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING

We’re looking for someone who has these abilities and skills:

  • The successful candidate will have moderate to extensive casualty underwriting experience, preferably on large, multi-national accounts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred, professional designations CIP, FCIP, CRM a plus.
  • Has the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and takes the initiative on key tasks
  • Thorough knowledge of underwriting guidelines, rating methodologies, reinsurance concepts and
  • business processes
  • Excellent marketing, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent decision-making skills.
  • Outstanding Communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers, producers and trading partners.

Responsibilities

What will your essential responsibilities include?

  • Managing and underwriting a profitable book of new and renewal business per AXA XL’s underwriting guidelines, with emphasis on growth and excellent service standards.
  • The position is responsible for the production and underwriting of primary casualty, lead umbrella and excess business for global and domestic clients. Large account experience is a definite plus.
  • Developing and structuring tailor-made risk solutions by considering the Casualty Underwriting guidelines and Underwriting policies to win new business and retain existing customers.
  • Conducting risk review and analysis and determining terms and conditions as well as appropriate pricing in accordance with granted authority and AXA XL guidelines.
  • Being accountable for ensuring that new and renewed solutions are implemented and maintained.

You will report to the Underwriting Manager- Casualty, Canada.
