  • Deputise for the Divisional Underwriting Head as and when required
  • Manage the existing portfolio (renewals, endorsements, risk and coverholder visits, client meetings, claims involvement)
  • Contribute positively to the overall results of SCOR Syndicate and SCOR by demonstrably sound technical and profitable underwriting
  • Develop SCOR Syndicate’s market share and leadership position
  • Enhance SCOR Syndicate’s image in the market by efficient and innovative support of client needs.
  • Receive, select and evaluate offers of business from various sources, calculate ratings and negotiate the conditions and exclusions of the contracts
  • Generate new offers and promote SCOR Syndicate and SCOR by pro-active marketing in accordance with the strategy and guidelines defined in the SBF and the Syndicate Protocols and appropriate regulatory Guidelines
  • Maintain and develop relationships with clients and brokers; travel as and when required to do so
  • Respond to all offers in a timely manner
  • Research, develop and report on new areas of potential profitable growth
  • Maintain accurate records of quotes, risks accepted and declinatures
  • Control and verify premium income according to business plan
  • Produce reports of various formats for reporting purposes as required
  • Assist the Divisional Head with business planning
  • Assist the Divisional Head with the division’s relationship with capital providers.
  • Assist the Divisional Head with reinsurance planning, reporting and liaison with R/I brokers and reinsurers
  • Assist the Divisional Head with the management of delegated underwriting contracts
  • Assist the Divisional Head with the Realistic Disaster Scenario process
  • Act as the focal point for engagement with DUA team where Event Cancellation risks require a review of terrorism/political violence cover
  • Contribute to the claims settlement process in conjunction with the claims department
  • Contribute to the division’s technical knowledge of sectors and sub-sectors in which the jobholder is working
  • Motivate, encourage and contribute to the training of the team

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Established underwriter with at least 8+ years fac/direct underwriting experience in the London market or elsewhere
  • Proven underwriting skills including writing new business and renewals
  • Good market relationships
  • Knowledge of Reinsurance management and purchasing
  • Leadership potentialExperience of writing International Business
