Description

At Shutterfly, we transform life’s most cherished moments into lasting memories. We believe in the extraordinary power of self-expression, which is why our suite of brands helps customers create products and capture memories that reflect their unique stories.
We are on the lookout for an experienced Senior UX Manager to help shape world-class digital experiences that delight our customers. As a player-coach people leader, you will not only design projects, but also manage, mentor, and inspire your team of four UX designers to achieve their best work. With extensive expertise in digital design, particularly in simplifying and optimizing complex experiences for mobile, you’ll help deliver impactful user-centric solutions. Your passion for Shutterfly’s mission will fuel your drive to craft designs that are both functional and meaningful.

Responsibilities
  1. Design Leadership:
  • Lead with Impact: As a trusted leader, you will steer design teams through the entire product development lifecycle—from ideation and research to prototyping, testing, and final implementation. Your leadership will be instrumental in delivering exceptional experiences.
  • Design Expertise: Your deep knowledge of digital product design allows you to clearly articulate the rationale behind your decisions. You bring a wealth of experience to the table, combining mastery of design best practices with a keen eye for innovation and emerging trends.
  • Collaborative Spirit: You thrive in cross-functional environments. You foster strong, productive relationships with product managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring alignment and collective ownership of the design process. You value feedback, enjoy healthy debates, and inspire others to contribute their ideas.
  • Player/Coach Leadership Style: While you are a great designer in your own right, you have a passion for developing the skills and talent of your direct reports. You have experience managing a team of 3-5 people in a player/coach capacity. You are a guiding force, motivating and inspiring your team to strive for excellence.
  • Team Culture Builder: You create an environment where creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning are the norms. You help foster a supportive and inclusive culture where the team feels valued and inspired to perform their best work.
  1. Design Execution:
  • End-to-End Experience Design: You have a proven track record of designing holistic product experiences, considering everything from initial user engagement to long-term interaction. You understand how each touchpoint, transition, and interaction impacts the overall user journey.
  • Comfortable with Ambiguity: You embrace challenges and uncertainties. When faced with complex problems, you are excited by the opportunity to define the problem space, clarify objectives, and lead the team toward innovative solutions.
  • Compelling Storyteller: You’re an effective communicator, able to present your design ideas and decisions with clarity and conviction. Whether you’re presenting to stakeholders or leading design reviews, you tailor your communication to the audience and ensure your message resonates.
  1. Data-Informed Decision Making:
  • You believe in the power of data to guide design decisions. You’re comfortable using insights and analytics to inform your design process, ensuring that your decisions are grounded in real-world user behavior and needs.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Extensive experience in product design, with a strong portfolio showcasing end-to-end design work across mobile and web platforms.
  • Expertise in designing intuitive, engaging, and visually appealing user experiences.
  • Strong prototyping and interaction design skills, with proficiency in tools such as Figma.
  • A deep understanding of user-centered design principles, usability, and accessibility.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and storytelling skills.
  • A passion for Shutterfly’s mission and a desire to create products that have a lasting impact on our customers.

Why Shutterfly? At Shutterfly, you’ll join a passionate, innovative team that’s committed to creating products that truly matter. We value creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning, and we’re looking for people who are excited to make a difference. If you’re ready to play a pivotal role in crafting unforgettable experiences for our customers, we’d love to hear from you.
