Here, you can apply your passion and collaborate with top environmental professionals on work that’s vital to our clients and the communities they serve.  Join a team that’s naturally committed to the environment.  Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a highly motivated, personable, organized Senior Vegetation Ecologist to perform program development and execution for a wide variety of projects within various development sectors such as oil and gas, mining, and transportation within the vegetation ecology and wetland disciplines. As a senior member of the team, you will apply your expertise to develop and effectively execute work plans and budgets, write and quality review plans, reports, and proposals, and support technical innovation and development of the team. You will work independently and/ or supervise field and project teams at a discipline level to move projects toward closure in the most cost-effective manner. In this role, the junior and intermediate staff will look to you for mentorship and leadership.  This position may be located in either our Winnipeg or Saskatchewan offices. Your Key Responsibilities * Leading and conducting wetland assessments, ecological land classification (ELC) surveys, and vegetation inventories with a focus species of conservation concern that include species at risk and weeds. * Conducting biophysical field surveys in accordance with provincial species detection protocols (e.g., vascular plant). * Preparing Environmental assessments for municipal, provincial, and federal regulators in multiple sectors, including oil and gas, mining, land development, transportation, renewable energy. * Working on a variety of natural resource planning projects, including natural area inventories and biophysical assessments. * Ensuring Quality Assurance and Quality Control procedures are adhered to and participate in QA/QC reviews of deliverables. * Completing Desktop mapping of wetlands and vegetation communities. * Interacting directly with internal and external clients and contribute to developing excellent relationships with clients, regulators, and stakeholders. * Leading and directing field assessments as required. * Training junior and intermediate staff in field and reporting requirements to meet project and regulatory requirements. * Identifying scope and budget for proposal submissions. * Attending client meetings and participate in regulatory strategy development for projects. * Participating in Health, Safety, Security, and Environment (HSSE) Policies, Procedures, Standards and Guidelines in the execution of all work. * Executing specific technical tasks or requirements for medium to large projects. * Effectively supporting the development of junior and intermediate staff as a mentor and leader. * Working proactively to further the technical needs of the team.  Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
