Description
Company Description Senior Veterinarian (Permanent) with a 6-month Acting Veterinary Director Opportunity This is a clinic where people stay, clients trust us, and the work feels meaningful Greencross Vets Browns Plains is busy in the best way. We’re well known in the local community, our clients want to do right by their pets, and our team takes real pride in practising good medicine without cutting corners. We’re looking for a permanent Senior Vet (full-time or part-time) who wants a great clinical home first and foremost, with the option to step up into an Acting Veterinary Director role for 6 months from June while our current VD is on maternity leave. The role You’ll join us as a senior clinician in a permanent position. You’ll run your own cases with autonomy, supported by a team that collaborates naturally and has each other’s backs when the day gets hectic. If leadership is where you’re heading, you’ll also have the opportunity to take the reins as Acting VD for 6-month. It’s a proper step-up, with support around you from the Regional Clinical Director and other Vet Directors in the network, not a “good luck, you’re in charge now” situation. And if you love the leadership side and want to keep going, we can help. The maternity leave cover ends, but your path doesn’t have to. With a strong Greencross network across Brisbane, we can support you to find a permanent Veterinary Director role in the network when the time is right. What it feels like to work at Browns Plains We’re established and trusted, and our clients value clear plans and thorough care The caseload is varied, so your weeks don’t blur into the same consults on repeat We do a mix of routine consults and surgery, plus cases that make you think and keep you growing The team is stable, kind, and quietly high performing, with good banter and no ego You’ll have autonomy, but you’ll never be isolated, there’s always someone to talk a case through with If you step into the Acting VD cover, here’s what you’ll be supported to do Guide the clinical standards of the clinic in a way that feels practical and achievable Create a steady rhythm to the day, so the team can do their best work without burning out Lead case chats and decision-making with a calm, clear presence Mentor, coach and lift the team around you, especially the vets who are still finding their feet Who this will suit You’ll thrive here if you’re the kind of vet who: Brings calm energy when the day is full Enjoys both medicine and surgery and likes working cases up properly Communicates with empathy and clarity, especially when choices feel hard for clients Likes building a culture where people can ask questions, learn, and feel safe doing so Wants to lead in a way that’s human, consistent, and team-first We are a busy clinic and our clients are invested. That’s part of what makes it rewarding, but it also means we rely on good communication and thoughtful leadership to keep the day running smoothly and keep the team supported. What we’ll back you with A permanent role first, with flexibility for full-time or part-time Four weeks annual leave plus one week paid study leave (pro rata) CE support, plus AVA membership or veterinary registration Heidi AI note-taking to reduce admin and protect your headspace Mental health support including trained first aid officers in every clinic and 24/7 EAP Leadership pathways across the Greencross network, including support to explore permanent VD roles across Brisbane How to apply If you’re looking for a clinic where you can settle in, be trusted, and do good work with good people, we’d love to talk.
