Description
Nextonic Solutions is looking to add a driven, flexible, organized, and meticulous Senior Veterinary Pathologist to our dynamic team. The Contractor(s) shall provide services in support of the overall functions of the office of Chief Scientist - Integrated Research Facility (OSCIRF), National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Technical Requirements: Provide pathology services to support animal studies, such as assist the Federal Task Leader to manage a team of pathology, histology and clinical pathology professionals to support necropsy and histology research efforts. Responsible for working with research staff to coordinate pathology and histology support, is responsible for postmortem examination (necropsy) in the BSL-4 containment laboratory, and documentation of gross observations/diagnoses in support of animal studies. Provides expertise in the following areas: necropsy (examination, data capture, and reporting); histopathology (examination, data capture, and reporting); histology/immunohistochemistry lab operations; histomorphometry operations/analysis; and digital pathology operations/services. Assist the Federal Task Leader with managing a team of pathology, histology and clinical pathology professionals. Works with research staff to coordinate necropsies and sample analyses. Performs and facilitates gross and histologic examination of samples collected during necropsies including special stains, immunohistochemistry and in situ hybridization; develops comprehensive written reports. Additional duties include supporting mission priorities in laboratory setting to complete research studies. Specific Qualifications: Board certified Veterinary Pathologist (DVM, ACVP); with PhD preferred. Previous recent biocontainment (BSL-3 or BSL-4) experience required; BSL-4 experience preferred. Direct staff management experience required. Strong leadership and mentorship abilities.
