EXPERIENCE
Minimum Required: 5 years of progressive leadership in fundraising, cultivating donor stewardship, sales/marketing, and managing brand awareness for the sake of raising funds. Familiarity with or ability to quickly learn military organizational structures, terminology, protocol, and rank hierarchy is necessary to fully appreciate and understand the core mission and values of the GMC experience and product.
Preferred Level: Masters Degree and higher education leadership experience and 10 years of progressive leadership in the aforementioned requirements preferred.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Senior Vice President for Advancement (SVP) serves as a key member of the President’s Cabinet and also serves as the Executive Director of the GMC Foundation and as an ex-officio member on the Alumni Association Board. The SVP is responsible for developing and executing the strategic vision for institutional advancement, alumni engagement, and internal & external communications for the entire College (K-12, Junior College, GOLC and institution). This role provides executive leadership and strategic vision and oversight for the Office of Advancement, the GMC Alumni Association, The GMC Foundation in coordination with the Foundation Executive Committee, and the Communications Department, including Governmental Affairs. The SVP plays a critical leadership role in shaping the public image and philanthropic priorities of the institution.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide strategic direction for all fundraising and development activities for the College, including annual giving, major gifts, planned giving, donor specific publications and communication, and capital campaigns. Plans, coordinates, and participates in President’s engagements to cultivate and solicit major donors, alumni, corporations, and foundations. Cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, alumni, corporations, and foundations. Utilize data and analytics to assess donor trends, campaign effectiveness, and engagement outcomes.
Develop strategies to cultivate alumni and friends through events, volunteer programs, communication, and the NewDay USA Leadership Speaker Series, and Center of Leadership, with the support of the GMC Alumni Association Board and the GMC Foundation
Provide strategic oversight of the Communications Department in collaboration with the Associate Vice President for Communications and Government Affairs. Support institutional messaging, brand management, media relations, government affairs, and executive communications.
Serve as a senior advisor and member of the President’s Cabinet, contributing to institution-wide decision-making as they are related to fundraising and directing funds towards institutional priorities. Manage departmental budgets and supervise directors across advancement, alumni relations, and communications.
