Description
Description The Role Cheba Hut was founded on being an escape from the norm and as a cool place to work. We see our franchise owners and crew as our primary stakeholders. The operations department is the heart of our organization and leads our culture from the front lines back to HQ. As the primary architect of Cheba Hut’s operations, the SVP of Operations bridges high-level brand strategy with front-line execution, driving company-wide vision as a core member of the Leadership Team. In this role, you will oversee all internal operational functions—including training programs, food and beverage, and company stores—while serving as the strategic conduit to the franchise system to ensure long-term profitability, culture-led growth, and mutual trust. Executive Leadership & Strategy Internal Strategy: Ensure company-owned stores set the standard for our system, hit peak KPIs (Labor, COGS, EBIDTA) and serve as the testing ground for all R&D and operational innovations. External Strategy: Lead the roadmap for franchisee support, ensuring the system scales without losing brand integrity. You will lead the "Why" behind every "What," securing franchisee buy-in for system-wide shifts. Leadership Team Collaboration: Partner with the CEO and other executives to synthesize brand goals into actionable tactics. You’ll be the glue between Marketing, Finance, and Development. Key Areas of Responsibility 1. Team Leadership (Direct Reports) District Manager (Company Stores): Mentor and drive performance for our shops to ensure they are the most profitable and operationally sound units in the system. Director of Operations: Streamline systems and field support to ensure Cheba Standards are executable and efficient. Director of Learning & Development: Oversee the cultivation of our shop-level talent pipeline, ensuring our training programs are as unique as our brand. Programs include ownership training through initial crew training. 2. Franchisee Relations & Management Act as the lead diplomat and relationship manager for our franchise partners. Proactively manage the franchisor-franchisee dynamic, balancing accountability with authentic partnership and support. Oversee the field support team to ensure franchise-owned shops are maintaining brand standards and hitting their financial benchmarks. 3. R&D and Innovation Oversee Research & Development to keep our menu and tech stack cutting-edge. Direct the vetting and rollout of new products/processes, ensuring they are "battle-tested" in company stores before system-wide implementation. Maintain strong partnerships and relationships throughout the industry to stay ahead of the curve of emerging trends and technology. Contribute to driving innovation while working with stakeholders to validate new initiatives. 4. Company Shop Oversight Oversee the KPI benchmarks for Company Shops, holding the leadership pipeline accountable for maximizing margins and meeting aggressive financial targets. Work with the District Manager to engineer a robust leadership pipeline and ensure long-term succession readiness at the GM and AGM levels. Build the reporting loops and operational standards that bridge HQ strategy with shop-level execution, ensuring consistent "North Star" performance across the portfolio. Requirements The Experience Requirement 10+ Years in Multi-Unit Leadership: You have a proven track record of managing large-scale restaurant portfolios (20+ units preferred). Franchise Fluency: Deep experience in the franchisor-franchisee relationship. You understand how to influence and lead independent business owners. Strategic Vision: You can pivot from analyzing a P&L to designing a 3-year growth strategy for the entire brand. Authentic Culture Fit: You are professional but un-corporate. You lead with high EQ, low ego, and a "Do the Right Thing" mentality. Working Conditions: This is an in-person position, relocation costs could be considered. These can include physical requirements of the job as well as any important things to note related to the work environment, necessary to perform the job. Examples for office-based HQ positions: Ability to work on computer for up to 8 hours per day Ability to communicate via voice (phone) and email Must feel comfortable with marijuana-themed culture The "Cheba" Standard The Diplomat: Ability to navigate "hard conversations" while keeping relationships intact. The Visionary: Able to predict industry shifts (tech, labor, supply chain) and prepare the system to thrive. The Culture Carrier: You don’t just "get" our counter-culture roots—you live them.
