Responsibilities

Named after the 17th hole of the Old Course, the Road Hole Restaurant is the beating heart of the hotel. With its commitment to using only the finest local ingredients, breath-taking views and exceptional service, it’s no wonder why the restaurant has earned such a prestigious 3 AA Rosettes rating.
An opportunity for an experienced waiter or shift leader to join our fine dining team here at The Old Course Hotel has become available. This position would suit either someone with recent experience in a supervisory role, or strong waiting experience with the desire to develop into a supervisory position. The role will include preparing for service, maintaining high standards of service and presentation, being responsible for your own section, being the designated leader on shift, providing a 5-star experience and creating lasting memories for our guests who travel from around the globe to visit us.

Your responsibilities will include;

  • Delivering exceptional customer service to all guests in line with AA 5 five red star standards
  • Greeting customers, processing orders by telephone and ensuring all orders are delivered following IQA standards.
  • Ensure the cleanliness of the outlet and still room areas before, during and after service and are in accordance with the hotel’s standards of practice.
  • Have a full understanding of the composition of all dishes on menu, as per specifications.
  • Ensure stock and linen levels always meet business requirements – highlighting any concerns where appropriate.
  • Be present at regular departmental training sessions, pre-service meetings and operational meetings.

    To be successful in this position;

  • You will have previous experience of at least 2 years within a hospitality role.

  • Basic wine knowledge is required, with the ability to recommend wine and dish pairing options.
  • WSET Level 1 is preferred, but not essential.
  • You will have previous experience as a Section Leader.
  • You will deliver a warm and welcoming experience, playing your part in making their stay at The Old Course as exceptional as it can be.
  • You will have a keen eye for detail and an organised approach with the desire to exceed guest expectations.
  • You will be a team player with strong communication skills and a positive attitude.
