Job Title: Senior Water Resources Engineer
Job Description
As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of programs and projects, encompassing municipal, state, and federal/DOD initiatives. Your expertise will be instrumental within our Infrastructure Market Sector, where you will provide guidance on water resources, storm drainage, and stormwater management design. This role involves leading flood studies, culvert designs, bridge hydraulics, and hydrologic & hydraulic modeling projects. You will provide technical guidance and mentorship to mid-level and junior design staff while also participating in marketing and business development to help expand the sector.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor design staff on a variety of projects.
  • Provide technical guidance in water resources and stormwater management design.
  • Conduct flood studies, culvert design, and bridge hydraulics.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic modeling using software such as HEC-RAS.
  • Engage in marketing and business development activities.
  • Develop strategies to win new projects and contribute to sector growth.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of relevant post-education experience in Water Resource Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer license.
  • Experience in Microstation/Geopak/OpenRoads and/or Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in CAD platforms and stormwater/hydraulic design software.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with land disturbance permits and stormwater pollution prevention plans (SWPPP).
  • Ability to design complex open and closed storm drainage systems.
  • Experience with VDOT, municipal markets in Virginia, or USACOE/NAVFAC/Department of Defense.
  • Membership in professional societies such as ASCE, ACEC, or AWRA is preferred.
  • Proficient in communicating with diverse audiences.

Work Environment
The work environment is primarily office-based, with a schedule of three days in the office and two days remote. The office is well-lit, heated, and ventilated. The role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, and occasional bending or lifting of minimal weight. Overnight travel may be required.
