Your Opportunity
Stantec has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our expanding Water Resources team in Atlantic Canada. This role offers a great mix of challenge and opportunity, with the flexibility to choose your base location from our offices in Dartmouth, NS, Fredericton, NB, or St. John’s, NL. As part of our collaborative team, you will work on projects across the region, taking on key responsibilities as both a project manager and a team leader. You’ll contribute to the development of water resources through practical solutions and offer expert guidance on a range of important projects. As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will have the potential to lead projects involving hydraulic and hydrologic modeling, stormwater management, erosion and sediment control, fish passage design, stream restoration, water quality analysis, mine site water management, flood hazard assessments, and much more. Your expertise will contribute to diverse initiatives that protect and enhance our most precious resource—water.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute field programs for hydrologic and climatic data collection.
  • Work within interdisciplinary teams to drive large-scale industrial, commercial, and municipal water-related projects forward
  • Oversee hydrometric site selection, study design, and model development
  • Steer business development by writing proposals, creating project scopes, managing budgets, and collaborating with clients and contractors
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members, supporting their training and professional development
  • Ensure safe work practices are developed and adhered to, including comprehensive safety planning for each project

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Highly proficient in hydrologic modeling and analysis software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and PCSWMM
  • Skilled in statistical software like R and HEC-SSP, and GIS mapping tools such as Q-GIS or ArcGIS
  • Proven communication skills, both verbal and written, including technical and scientific writing
  • Working knowledge of Atlantic Canadian, Ontario, and federal regulations and permitting requirements for environmental monitoring and construction projects is a bonus
  • Education and Experience
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering or environmental science, with specialized training in hydrology, hydrogeology, or water resources management Preference for candidates with a Master’s or Doctorate-level degree in a related field, and those licensed with Engineers NS, Geoscientists NS, APEGNB or PEGNL Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of
