ICF is seeking an energetic Lead Wetland Scientist / Delineator to join our team and lead field efforts conducting wetland delineations and biological surveys for renewable energy developers, transportation agencies, and other infrastructure projects throughout Texas and the region. In this role, you will:

  • Support our team with the research, preparation, coordination and various other tasks necessary to keep our team strong and effective

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • BS in Biology, Natural Resource Sciences, Wetland Science, Wildlife, Ecology, Botany, Forest, Environmental Sciences, or a similar field
  • 5+ years of experience conducting wetland delineations and/or supporting environmental permitting related to WOTUS, including at least 2 years leading field efforts
  • Valid driver’s license is required

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS AND ATTRIBUTES:

  • Ability to mobilize quickly and travel to project sites, including overnight trips for up to a week at a time
  • Strong knowledge of environmental consulting practices and environmental law
  • Experience mobilizing and leading field efforts and conducting studies for renewable energy, transportation, water, and/or infrastructure clients
  • Experience using GPS technologies
  • Strong technical writing skills and demonstrated ability to prepare permits
  • The team’s local office is in Austin, TX, and due to the location of field work, local candidates are preferred
  • Certification as a Certified Wildlife Biologist (CWB) and/or Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) a plus
  • Experience mentoring and guiding junior staff
Responsibilities

JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Independently lead and perform wetland delineations and functional assessments
  • Assess impacts and prepare technical reports and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 404/10 permit applications and mitigation plans
  • Lead and perform plant and wildlife habitat assessments/surveys
  • Provide expertise and technical input to project managers on complex projects involving Clean Water Act, Endangered Species Act, federal and state laws, and agency consultations.
  • Support project managers with client management, project documentation, scheduling, scoping, and budgeting
