This one puts you inside one of Australia's most sensitive operational environments, where the platforms you build directly underpin national security capability. Embedded within the Australian Signals Directorate (ASD), you will design, deploy and sustain Windows server infrastructure across physical, virtualised and enterprise environments, owning everything from Active Directory and PKI through to image builds, VMware integration and server automation. This is hands on engineering at SFIA Level 5, with the autonomy to shape design decisions and the scope to lead installation and migration activity end to end. What You'll Be Doing You will lead the engineering and sustainment of Windows server platforms that support critical digital services within ASD. The role spans design, build and operations across Active Directory, PKI, DNS, Remote Desktop Services and WSUS, with strong integration into VMware, MFA, and broader security tooling. You will work at SFIA Level 5 on systems design and installation, taking responsibility for complex builds, migrations and decommissioning activity, while operating at Level 4 on problem management and Level 3 on scripting and automation. Expect to work closely with security, infrastructure and operations teams in a high assurance environment. Platform Engineering and Design Design, test and deploy new Windows Server operating system versions, including building and maintaining gold images and providing VMware integration Engineer and operate core Windows services including Active Directory, DNS, PKI, Remote Desktop Services and WSUS Lead complex systems design activity at SFIA Level 5, balancing functional and non functional requirements and assessing major design trade offs Security, Automation and Resilience Integrate and support management and security software, configurations and MFA solutions across the Windows estate Develop server automation and scripting to streamline build, configuration and operational tasks Develop and operate backup and recovery services for virtualised Windows systems Operations and Lifecycle Take responsibility for systems installation, migration and decommissioning projects, including quality plans, method statements and team leadership during delivery Run regular system health checks across hardware and software, troubleshoot complex Windows issues, and drive problem management to root cause resolution What You'll Bring The Essentials You must hold a current PV security clearance and be an Australian citizen to be considered for this role Demonstrated senior level experience designing, testing and deploying new versions of the Windows Server operating system in enterprise or high assurance environments Deep hands on expertise across Active Directory, DNS, PKI, Remote Desktop Services, WSUS and VMware integration Strong working knowledge of security software and hardening associated with Windows operating systems, including MFA integration Proven capability at SFIA Level 5 systems design and installation, Level 4 problem management, and Level 3 scripting and software development By submitting your application, you consent to Orro sharing your personal details directly with Remote (remote.com.au) as part of the recruitment process for this role.
