Description

WHO WE ARE

When it comes to health, we’re always looking for ways to push for better. It’s why we were founded in the first place. In 1957, our founder, pharmacist William Wilkinson, witnessed a mother sacrifice her health by forgoing her own medicine to pay for her sick daughter’s prescription. He knew there had to be a better way. So, he introduced North America’s first prepaid drug plan, and GreenShield was born as a not-for-profit with a mission to support better health for all Canadians.
We aren’t just a health and benefits company. We’re the only not-for-profit social enterprise that brings worlds of coverage and care together, all in one place.
We’re noble challengers, purposefully building a better way and we need the best people to help us create a more holistic approach that takes care of the mind and body.
Our mission is to create better health for all Canadians, and we know that starts with our employees.

Responsibilities

We’re looking for a strategic, highly skilled Senior Writer to join our Corporate Communications team. This role will be instrumental in shaping and executing the company’s corporate narrative — crafting powerful, clear, and compelling content across executive thought leadership, speeches, long-form storytelling, event communications, and corporate reports.
The ideal candidate is both a strategist and strong executor: someone who will steward GreenShield’s corporate narrative, values and strategic priorities in written form, capture our executive voices with precision, and lead complex writing projects like annual reports and thought leadership pieces.

Reporting to the Director of Corporate Communications and Change Management, this role is central to shaping Greenshields’s voice and narrative — leading high-impact storytelling and high visibility communications across key platforms, including:

  • Narrative & Messaging Development
  • In collaboration with Corporate Communications, develop and evolve the enterprise-wide corporate narrative, ensuring consistency across all internal and external channels.
  • Build messaging frameworks to support strategic priorities, campaigns, and executive platforms.
  • Executive Communications & Thought Leadership
  • Write speeches, op-eds, articles, scripts, and talking points for the CEO and executive leadership team.
  • Create high-impact thought leadership content that enhances the visibility and credibility of our leaders through media, speaking engagements, and digital channels.
  • Event & Milestone Communications
  • Lead the content development for internal and external events including town halls, leadership forums, and key industry appearances.
  • Craft supporting materials (remarks, scripts, presentation narratives, video scripts, etc.) aligned with the tone and intent of the moment.
  • Collaborate with the lead planner on event marketing communications to increase registration and engagement.
  • Corporate Publications
  • Lead the content strategy, writing, and editorial oversight for the company’s corporate reports, and other publications.
  • Collaborate with key internal stakeholders to translate data and disclosures into accessible, engaging narrative content.
  • Ensure reports are cohesive, on-brand, and aligned with strategic messaging.
  • Editorial Leadership
  • Manage and edit written materials across the Corporate Communications portfolio to ensure tone, clarity, and alignment with narrative frameworks.
  • Act as a trusted partner to internal stakeholders, providing writing expertise and editorial direction on key initiatives.
