Organic traffic is a crucial traffic driver for The Telegraph website and a key focus for our ongoing growth efforts. Our goal is to leverage this traffic channel to fuel long-term growth, reach new demographics, and consistently attract new customers.
Our SEO team is dedicated to promoting best practices across the business, collaborating with each desk to ensure the creation of SEO-friendly content. The Evergreen SEO team specialises in long-life content, managing the organic performance of non-news articles. This includes topics within the Telegraph Life section, such as personal finance, health & fitness,
food & drink, and culture.
We are seeking an enthusiastic self-starter who understands the vital role of search engines in content discovery to join our Evergreen SEO team. As a SEO Executive, you will assist the SEO Manager in executing the organic growth strategy for Telegraph Life. Your responsibilities will include advising desks on SEO best practices, identifying growth opportunities, and reporting on organic search performance. A good example of our evergreen content can be found within Telegraph Money and its associated guides.
Key Responsibilities

Helping editorial teams to develop and deliver compelling content experiences for their target audiences and support them to achieve this by:

  • Assisting with keyword research, trend and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and areas for organic growth using tools such as Ahrefs/SEMrush
  • Creating and managing content calendars containing recommendations for new evergreen and topical content, as well as improvements for existing content
  • Creating SEO briefs for writers of varying SEO knowledge in line with the agreed content calendar
  • On-page optimisation for a variety of content types including web articles and landing pages, according to SEO principles
  • Highlighting contextual linking opportunities to increase and improve internal linking
  • Assist with reporting, evaluating and improving the performance of content
  • Understand and respect editorial guidelines and key target demographics to guide content recommendations effectively

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Solid SEO experience with a deep understanding of content marketing techniques
  • Able to proficiently optimise a variety of content types including web articles and landing pages
  • Confident with thorough keyword research and monitoring keyword performance
  • ‘Can do’ attitude - proactive approach with a passion for digital
  • Ability to juggle multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Confident using web analytics tools (Adobe Analytics, desirable), content management systems and SEO tools
  • Effectively collaborates and builds rapport with internal stakeholders and colleagues
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Keen interest in the latest SEO industry trends, with a proactive approach to staying informed about new releases and developments
