Job Title: Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist
Location: Hybrid (with 2 days in phs Caerphilly office)
Reports To: Head of Marketing and Digital

JOB SUMMARY:

phs Group is seeking a skilled Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Specialist to enhance our online presence and drive organic traffic to our digital platforms. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SEO strategies, keyword research, and on-page and off-page optimisation techniques within a business-to-business (B2B) environment. This role will focus on improving search engine rankings, increasing visibility, and delivering measurable improvements in organic performance and return on investment (ROI).
The SEO Specialist will collaborate beyond Marketing, working closely with Sales, IT, and external partners to ensure SEO initiatives align with commercial goals, digital transformation, and customer engagement strategies. Additionally, this role will manage an SEO agency, setting clear KPIs, carrying out periodic performance reviews, and ensuring accountability for achieving high-quality link-building, content optimisation, and search performance improvements.

KEY SKILLS/EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven experience as an SEO Specialist or similar role, with a strong focus on organic search performance.
  • Demonstrated experience in a business-to-business setting is a must.
  • In-depth knowledge of search engine algorithms, ranking factors, and SEO best practices.
  • Experience with SEO tools such as Google Analytics, Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, or similar platforms.
  • Strong technical SEO skills, including familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics.
  • Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Experience collaborating with content, design, and development teams.
  • Knowledge of local SEO strategies and practices.
  • Degree in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on SEO experience.
  • Google Analytics certification is a plus.
