Description
Description As a valued member of our Food and Beverage dining outlets, Server Assistants play a vital role in delivering a seamless and elevated dining experience for our members and guests by supporting both the front-of-house team and service operations. This hybrid position combines responsibilities traditionally assigned to a Host, Busser, and Food Runner, requiring flexibility, teamwork, and exceptional attention to detail. As a key point of contact throughout the guest’s dining experience, the Server Assistant ensures that all touchpoints — from arrival to departure — reflect the high standards of our private club. Guest Reception & Host Duties Greet and welcome members and guests with a friendly and professional demeanor. Escort guests to their tables, presenting appropriate menus based on the dining area. Maintain and manage the reservation system throughout service, accommodating walk-ins and special requests. Communicate with serving staff and managers regarding table availability, large parties, and special requests to ensure seamless service. Answer phone calls, confirm reservations, and provide accurate information about dining options and club events. Maintain cleanliness and organization at the host stand and entry areas. Table Support & Bussing Ensure dining areas are clean, properly set, and ready for service. Assist with water and beverage refills, bread service, or other items as needed. Clear, reset, and sanitize tables efficiently between courses and after guest departure, ensuring cleanliness throughout service. Assist with polishing and restocking silverware, glassware, and dishware as needed. Food Running & Guest Service Support Deliver food orders from the kitchen to guests' tables quickly and accurately, based on dining outlet table and seat numbers. Verify that orders are accurate, complete, and properly prepared, with safe handling (e.g., proper temperature). Ensure proper placement of dishes, announcing items, special orders, and allergy considerations where appropriate. Assist servers by restocking and organizing mise en place, including ramekins, condiments, and utensils. Communicate with kitchen and service staff to coordinate food flow efficiently. Maintain knowledge of all menu items and preparation methods. General Duties Complete daily checklists to ensure all pre-shift and post-shift duties are fulfilled and the operation is set and ready for service. Ensure workspaces are clean, organized, and fully stocked. Collaborate closely with servers, bartenders, kitchen staff, and management to provide a seamless dining experience. Handle guest inquiries, special requests, and minor concerns with attentiveness and care; promptly inform management as needed. Uphold cleanliness and safety standards throughout all service areas. Attend training sessions and staff meetings, including pre-shift (line-up) briefings, as required. Take direction and adapt to the evolving needs of the dining room. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified, or a similar combination of education and experience. High caliber of professionalism and presentation, in line with private club standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a team-first mindset. Ability to multi-task effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Working knowledge of food safety and hygiene best practices. Proven record of delivering excellent customer service. Desired Qualifications Strong understanding of overall kitchen and restaurant operations. Excellent communication, organization, attention to detail, and time management skills. Comfort serving a private membership clientele, including regular interaction with the same individuals and families. Self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and the ability to anticipate needs. Flexible schedule, including availability on evenings, weekends, and holidays required. Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability and stamina to carry heavy trays, stand for long periods, and lift up to 30 lbs. Must be able to work in both hot and cold conditions, indoors and outdoors, and tolerate exposure to dust, fumes, and gases. Must be able to work in close proximity to moving machinery. Independent mobility required.
