General Manager and Assistant General Manager.
Position Summary:
The Captain assists in daily restaurant operations and supports the General Manager and Assistant General Manager in their pursuit and delivery of excellent guest experience. This role requires the ability to lead while taking a section on the floor. The ability to multitask is paramount. The Captain is an integral contributor to the overall success of the restaurant and must champion our philosophy, and mission. They will be responsible for guiding steps of service, recommending best food and wine pairings, and assist in supervising and executing wine service.
The ideal candidate will have an immense understanding of attention to detail. They will always be willing to go above and beyond in order to create the perfect experience for their guests. They will embody a sense of pride, heartfelt hospitality and grace while in the dining room.

Guest Commitment, Relations and Records:

  • Provide kind and genuine hospitality to all guests entering and leaving the restaurant
  • Maintain a record of regular guests, industry guests, and public figures. Keep note of general preferences and dietary restrictions in OpenTable guest notes
  • Be willing to go above and beyond in an effort to create the perfect experience
  • Lead with grace, humility and understanding in your service
  • Develop personal relationships with regular guests, VIP’s and Public Figures

Operational Execution:

  • Receive, organize and re-stock wine when needed
  • Manage wine par levels and indicate to the General Manager when an order needs to be placed
  • Quickly and accurately identify critical information and make independent judgments in accordance with company visions, values and business practices
  • Provide exceptional guest service, thereby setting the standard for all employees
  • Lead by example and maintain a calm and eloquent demeanour in times of stress
  • Consistently seek new ways to enhance guest experience through observation and communication with staff members and guests alike
  • Assist with restaurant closures as required.
  • Assist with and advocate for team training seminars and learning sessions.

Leadership and Communication:

  • Speak with intellect, direction and professionalism to all guests and colleagues
  • Encourage and maintain clear lines of communication between front-of-house and back-of-house hourly and management employees
  • Build long-lasting valuable relationships with food and beverage suppliers as they are introduced

Work Environment:

  • The work environment can be loud and busy
  • This position regularly requires long hours and weekend work

Physical Demands:

  • The employee is required to stand for up to 8+ hours at a time
  • The position requires working taste buds, ability to smell, feel with fingers and visually inspect, including close and distance vision
  • Lifting and/or moving up to 20 lbs. regularly; occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 50 lbs.

Experience:

  • *Sommelier accreditation is an asset
  • Must possess strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to build relationships
  • High personal integrity, professionalism, and maturity
  • Experience with OpenTable and Square is an asset

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.20 per hour
Expected hours: 25 – 35 per week
