Job Description As a Server Engineer, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for a new AI-powered chatbot product. In this role, you’ll help define how users design, personalize, and interact with digital characters, unlocking new possibilities in storytelling, communication, and playYou'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performance solutions. In your day-to-day, you will: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala, Kafka, and related technologies Build and evolve the core platform for a new AI-powered chatbot product, integrating multiple APIs and services Own the end-to-end lifecycle of backend features — from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring Drive architectural decisions and contribute to technical direction for distributed systems and event-driven workflows Collaborate closely with client and AI teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and seamless user experiences Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in backend development Solid understanding of distributed systems, event streaming, and Kafka-based architectures Experience with microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and data processing pipelines Strong problem-solving skills, code quality discipline, and attention to scalability and performance Written and spoken English proficiency Experience with AI or LLM-driven products – an advantage Additional Information Additional information Legends Platform is a newly-formed team focused on building the foundation for intelligent, dynamic AI characters. Our goal is to enable users to create rich, interactive personas — from playful companions to powerful AI-driven guides — that seamlessly integrate across multiple experiences. You'll be also a part of Wix's Backend Engineering Guild. We provide integrated tools for microservice development within Wix to help improve developer productivity and best practices. These tools streamline the development process and reduce cognitive load allowing Wix Engineers to concentrate on their domain, architecture, and business logic. To handle high-scale traffic (over 500B HTTP requests per day) and 500+ daily deployments, our team of 500 Backend Engineers runs production across 19 distributed data centers and cloud vendors worldwide.
