Job Description As a Server Engineer, you'll design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services for a new AI-powered chatbot product. In this role, you’ll help define how users design, personalize, and interact with digital characters, unlocking new possibilities in storytelling, communication, and play. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performance solutions. In your day-to-day, you will: Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Scala, Kafka, and related technologies Build and evolve the core platform for a new AI-powered chatbot product, integrating multiple APIs and services Own the end-to-end lifecycle of backend features — from design and implementation to deployment and monitoring Drive architectural decisions and contribute to technical direction for distributed systems and event-driven workflows Collaborate closely with client and AI teams to ensure high performance, reliability, and seamless user experiences Qualifications 2–3 years of experience in backend development Solid understanding of distributed systems, event streaming, and Kafka-based architectures Experience with microservices, REST/gRPC APIs, and data processing pipelines Strong problem-solving skills, code quality discipline, and attention to scalability and performance Written and spoken English proficiency Experience with AI or LLM-driven products – an advantage Additional Information Legends Platform is a newly-formed team focused on building the foundation for intelligent, dynamic AI characters.
