About the role: The Server Engineer is responsible for ensuring the stability, security, and efficient operation of the organisation’s server and virtualisation platforms. Leveraging VCP‑DCV‑level expertise across VMware technologies and advanced Microsoft Server capabilities, the role delivers high‑quality infrastructure services through effective administration, monitoring, and incident resolution. The Server Engineer contributes to the implementation of resilient server solutions, aligned with architectural standards and operational governance. By maintaining reliable compute platforms and supporting seamless integration with network and security services, the role underpins business‑critical applications and enables the organisation to deliver technology services with consistency, performance, and confidence. Administer, support, and optimise virtualised server environments leveraging VCP‑DCV‑level expertise (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter) Maintain and enhance Windows Server platforms using MCSE/MCITP‑level capabilities, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP, and server roles. Support basic network‑related troubleshooting and integration using CCNA‑level knowledge Manage server lifecycle activities including patching, upgrades, capacity planning, and performance monitoring Troubleshoot complex server, VM, storage, and OS‑level incidents to ensure availability and operational excellence Execute controlled changes within established governance frameworks, ensuring minimal disruption to services.
