JOB SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of a Waiter/ess are to exemplify uncompromising hospitality, providing our guests with the finest food and beverages, accompanied by courteous and efficient service to guests throughout their dining experience.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Fluent English speaker
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Some college preferred
  • At least 1-2 years of experience in a related field, preferably in hotels or restaurants
  • Must be able to convey information and ideas clearly
  • Ability to display warmth and hospitability
  • Flexible and long hours sometimes required
  • Ability to stand during entire shift
  • Ability to exert up to 25 kg of force occasionally, and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move object
  • Knowledge of any POS system a plus
  • Knowledge of Greek cuisine a plus

Responsibilities
  • Attends mandatory pre-shift briefing (line-up) before service
  • Arrives to work on time for shift
  • Ensures that tables are set to standards
  • Maintains high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform while working
  • Presents menus to customers and answers questions about menu items, making recommendations upon request
  • Informs customers of daily specials
  • Explains how various menu items are prepared, describing ingredients and cooking methods
  • Ensures orders are delivered on time
  • Ensures food presentation is up to par before serving it
  • Serves food and/or beverages to guests; prepares and serves specialty dishes at tables if required
  • Assures needs of guests are continually being met in a courteous and professional manner throughout the duration of their visit
  • Checks with customers to ensure that they are enjoying their meals and takes action to correct any problems
  • Checks customers’ personal identification in order to ensure that they meet minimum age requirements for consumption of alcoholic beverages
  • Maintains a friendly and warm demeanor at all times
  • Prepares checks that itemize and total meal costs and sales taxes, presents, accepts payment and provides change or credit card receipt. Follows appropriate accounting procedures for closing checks
  • Keeps wait stations clean, sets up and takes down station appropriately
  • Removes dishes and glasses from tables or counters, and takes them to kitchen for cleaning
  • May be asked to perform side work such as the following: stock service areas with supplies such as coffee, food, tableware and linens
  • Attends mandatory food and beverage classes
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
