Kerr Street Cafe is a busy trendy cafe in downtown Oakville providing espresso based drinks, light brunch fare, alcoholic beverages and retail items. We have been in operation since 2011 with a coffee roaster, catering company and online freezer program under our umbrella. We are seeking a personable & energetic server to join our team.
In this position, you will create a fun yet high-quality dining experience for guests. You will answer customers’ questions, assist them with their choices, take their orders, and deliver their food & beverage with a smile. We are looking for a candidate who is warm, and calm under pressure, and who knows how to be a team player and works with urgency throughout the shift.

Server Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet tables promptly
• Answer questions about menu items
• Accurately take customer orders and relay them to the kitchen staff using the POS
• Facilitate filling drink orders with the bar
• Gracefully suggest/upsell additional menu items, such as desserts and drinks
• Offer special assistance to patrons with specific needs, such as highchairs for children, accessible washroom, etc.
• Memorize the food & coffee menus for on-demand recitation and questions about ingredients
• Use the POS system to accurately calculate the patron’s bill
• Sidework duties
• Closeout of bills as tables leave

Server Requirements and Qualifications

• High school diploma or post secondary education preferred
• 3+ years service experience preferred
• Basic math skills nessessary
• Weekends, evenings, and holiday work is required
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
• Previous POS experience needed
• Ability to thrive in an active, noisy, and demanding environment
• Basic coffee knowledge is an asset
