Description

The Restaurant Server is responsible for the seamless meal service for guests from the initial greeting at the table, menu suggestions, order taking, food delivery and overall guest satisfaction throughout the meal. This position works closely and in sync with the restaurant management team, server and host associates and the Kitchen team.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience in a restaurant an asset
  • Valid Smart Serve Certification
  • Food Safe Handling Certification an asset
  • Excellent guest relations and communication skills
Responsibilities
  • Prepare the table settings prior to the meal service following the restaurant standards for cleanliness, placement of cutlery, glasses, napkins and the specified condiments on all tables.
  • Well versed on all menu items, ingredients and any specials of the day/week.
  • Greet guests as they are seated in a friendly and welcoming manner
  • Bring water and menus to the table shortly after the guests are seated.
  • Take beverage orders after an appropriate time from when the guests were seated
  • Deliver beverage orders, answer any questions on the menu items, offer any daily specials and take the food orders
  • Upsell wine with their meal.
  • Deliver the food orders. If there are children dining, alert the kitchen so their food may be prepared sooner.
  • If the kitchen is backed up with orders, advise the guests of the time when they can expect their food.
  • Refill water glasses as need, ask for any additional beverage orders.
  • Check in with your guests in a timely manner to confirm their satisfaction and happiness with their meal selection and deal with any food related issues promptly
  • Involve the management team for any guest who is not happy so issues can be resolved while they are still dining.
  • Collect plates and cutlery when guests are completely finished eating. Never assume and when in doubt, ask the guest.
  • Once the tables are cleared, offer dessert selection from the menu., coffee, tea
