Description

Radius Systems is seeking to a hire motivated Service Applications Engineer to join our rapidly growing business.
Our service engineers perform engineering tasks related to supporting the Service Department, including customer technical support, system additions design, programming, user interface development, and commissioning. Work to be performed both at the company office and job sites.

SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • High school diploma plus BS in Electrical, Mechanical, or Building Automation Engineering
  • Working knowledge of Visio or AutoCAD a plus
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Demonstrated knowledge and fluency with a minimum of one BAS or scientific programming language
  • Familiarity with MS operating systems, databases, and networks
  • Ability to learn quickly and retain information
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Fluent ability to work with laptops, tablets, smartphones
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer interface and human relations skills
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing schedules and priorities

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Working 40 hours/week, scheduled in 8-to-10-hour shifts
  • Standing, walking, squatting and sitting 6 to 8 hours/day
  • Twisting (180°) and walking 2 to 3 hours/day
  • Vision adequate for reading manuals, packing lists, requisitions, and other material related documents, drawings, specifications, laptop computer screen, phone screen, tablet screen, or PC screen.
  • Hearing for general communication, signals, and machine sounds
  • Balance adequate for climbing of ladders
  • Ability to constantly use hands/fingers to operate a computer, tablet, or smart phone and other office productivity machinery, such a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer
  • Occasional lifting of 0 to 50 lbs
  • Kneeling, lifting, reaching above shoulders, and bending 1 to 3 hours/day
  • Special hazards include exposure to mechanical, electrical, chemical, and potentially explosive hazards
  • Personal protective equipment includes the use of a hard hat, safety glasses, protected-toe boots, and appropriate gloves for the task. Equipment on an “as needed” basis may include fall protection, dust mask, respirator, hearing protection, arc flash protective gear, and dielectrically insulated gloves and/or sleeves

Responsibilities
  • Assures adherence to company and customer safety policies and procedures, supports company vision, mission, and goals, and complies with standards of conduct and appearance.
  • Provide direct software and graphics support for all warranty and service customers. Directly interface with customers to evaluate and discuss problems and communicate results of work performed.
  • Provide support to the Service Project Manager when required (attending meetings, responding to questions, etc.).
  • Perform all engineering tasks related to service adds – System design, I/O lists, sequence of operations, equipment selection, programming, 3rd party integration, commissioning, as-built drawings, O&M manuals, customer training to support a minimum of $1.5MM in annual total service department billing.
  • Develop specialized engineering documents for projects, including validation documents, commissioning/testing documents.
  • Fine tunes, optimizes, and troubleshoots software on existing systems to improve system performance and to respond to customer needs.
  • Provide troubleshooting and technical support for all ALC systems, 3rd party BAS, maintain strong working knowledge of troubleshooting methods to assist and support field technicians.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of ALC products, input/output devices, valves and actuators, dampers and actuators, and other parts used in systems.
  • Develop strong working knowledge of all required troubleshooting tools, including DMM, handheld instrumentation (temp, humidity, etc.)
  • Provides technical support to Field Techs as needed, including on-call support.
  • Provide direct interface with vendors to resolve conflicts or operational problems between control system and controlled equipment.
  • Assist in performing in-house and customer training classes
  • Assist in development and maintenance of engineering standards
  • Reads and interprets construction specifications and drawings, 3rd party as-built drawings, or other existing system documentation.
  • Assures that quality and productivity meet company and customer standards.
