Job DetailsJob Location: Grand Rapids, MI 49544Job Purpose: The Service Apprentice at ALLIED ELECTRIC INC is responsible for assisting experienced electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This role is designed to provide hands-on experience and training to individuals seeking to build a career in the electrical industry. The apprentice will learn to interpret blueprints, troubleshoot electrical issues, and adhere to safety standards while gaining practical skills and knowledge. Key Responsibilities: Assist electricians in the installation and repair of electrical systems, including wiring, lighting, and control systems. Learn to interpret and work from blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings. Support the team in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical problems. Maintain tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition. Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment. Participate in training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge in the electrical field. Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth project execution. Keep accurate records of work performed and materials used. Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work area. QualificationsRequired Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a relevant technical or vocational program is preferred. Required Experience: Min. of 3,000 hours of previous apprenticeship experience required. Previous experience in a customer service or support role is advantageous. Exposure to electrical or mechanical environments is beneficial but not mandatory. Required Skills and Abilities: Basic understanding of electrical systems and components. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact professionally with clients and team members. Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and procedures. Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality service. Physical ability to perform tasks that may require lifting, climbing, or working in confined spaces.
