KEY SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Diploma or degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or related technical field).
  • Experience: 5+ years in a technical service role, ideally with advanced experience in mechanical and electrical systems. Boiler experience is an asset.
  • Certifications: A Journeyman ticket in Gasfitting or Plumbing is beneficial but not mandatory.
  • Skills:
  • Proficiency in diagnosing complex technical issues.
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles with practical field application.
  • Excellent communication skills for explaining technical details to all audiences.
  • Knowledge of safety standards, environmental regulations, and best practices.

ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Service Engineer at Prime Boiler combines the hands-on expertise of a service technician with the analytical skills of an engineer. This role elevates our service quality by bringing advanced technical abilities, especially in electrical and mechanical systems. As a crucial member of the service team, you will troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize boiler systems, ensuring they meet industry standards and client expectations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Technical Expertise & Problem Solving:
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair complex mechanical and electrical issues in boilers.
  • Apply mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge to high-level repairs.
  • Innovate technical solutions to improve equipment performance and lifespan.
  • Interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and manuals for efficient service operations.
  • Embrace & Champion Technology:
  • Lead in adopting new tools and technologies that improve service efficiency.
  • Serve as the team’s go-to person for new tech implementations in Service.
  • Mentorship & Training:
  • Mentor technicians in advanced technical skills, focusing on engineering principles.
  • Collaborate on developing technical training programs and competency assessments.
  • Client Interaction & Service Delivery:
  • Act as the primary technical expert for client inquiries and troubleshooting.
  • Communicate technical solutions clearly to clients and promote additional services.
  • Documentation & Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate service records and prepare reports on system performance.
  • Identify areas for operational improvements and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
