Description
Service Manager As a Service Manager at Power Drive Supply, you will serve as the on-site leader with full authority over yard/shop operations to ensure smooth, efficient, safe, and profitable daily activities — from incoming purchases to repairs, inventory management, sales support, and customer interactions — so the site runs like a well-oiled machine that maximizes inventory turns, margins, and customer satisfaction. Key Responsibilities Team Leadership: Oversee and direct all on-site team members (Inventory Specialist, Mechanics, etc.); assign priorities, monitor performance, resolve conflicts, and ensure alignment with company goals. Yard/Shop Operations: Manage daily yard/shop workflow, coordinate incoming equipment intake, repairs/refurbishment scheduling, inventory organization, loading/unloading, and delivery prep. Safety & Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, site cleanliness, organization, and regulatory compliance (e.g., environmental, OSHA-equivalent standards for equipment handling/storage). Customer & Sales Support: Handle on-site customer interactions when needed (e.g., walk-arounds, basic inquiries, issue resolution) and support the Salesman in closing deals. Performance Reporting: Monitor key site metrics (inventory status, repair progress, parts usage) and report weekly to upper leadership. Operational Coordination: Collaborate with Purchaser on buy decisions/estimates, flag operational issues (e.g., storage limits, repair bottlenecks), and ensure site capacity matches purchasing/sales plans. Team Development: Coach and develop team members; recommend hiring, discipline, or changes to ensure the right people are in the right seats at the site level. Qualifications Experience in a supervisory or managerial role with heavy equipment service, yard operations, or related field Strong knowledge of heavy equipment maintenance, repair processes, parts management, inventory organization, and yard workflow (intake, scheduling, loading/unloading). Proven ability to lead and develop small on-site teams, including coaching, performance management, conflict resolution, and staffing recommendations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team leadership, customer interactions, and collaboration with sales/purchasing. In-depth understanding of safety protocols, OSHA standards (or equivalent), environmental regulations, and site cleanliness/organization. Experience handling on-site customer inquiries, issue resolution, and supporting sales efforts. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and basic inventory/work order software. Valid driver’s license required; forklift/heavy equipment certification preferred. Strong problem-solving skills with a hands-on, practical approach to site-level operations. Benefits Competitive salary starting at $65,000 – based on experience Comprehensive benefits package, including full health, vision, and dental insurance for employees and their families.
