Summit Trailer Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Service Manager at the Acheson Branch. This is an excellent opportunity to lead a strong team and play a vital role in our continued growth.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary education in Business or Journeyman Certification in Welding/Heavy Duty Mechanics
  • 8+ years of experience in the heavy-duty truck/trailer industry
  • Experience in truck rig ups would be an asset
  • Understanding of Insurance Company’s processes
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Excellent customer service skills; 1+ years in a customer-oriented management role
  • Ability to lead, coach and mentor employees
  • Knowledge of safety rules and regulations
  • Pro-active problem solver and decision maker
  • Organized, ability to set priorities, multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Proficient computer skills – MS Word/Excel, email, internet, keyboarding
  • Valid Class 5 driver license with the ability to travel within Alberta and British Columbia when required.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily Service Department operations to ensure customer satisfaction, employee safety, engagement, and teamwork.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop employees, including managing apprenticeship progress and performance reviews.
  • Maintain and enforce adherence to processes, procedures, and quality standards, ensuring products meet Summit’s benchmarks.
  • Manage shop productivity, capacity, and schedules to meet or exceed budgeted targets while supporting business goals.
  • Handle customer escalations and concerns promptly, fostering strong relationships with internal and external customers.
  • Ensure safety compliance through regular equipment inspections, employee training/certifications, and incident reporting.
  • Monitor and manage warranty claims and quality control to minimize workmanship issues.
  • Collaborate with other departments and industry partners to promote opportunities and positive outcomes.
  • Oversee financial performance by managing operational expenses, assisting with budgeting, and reporting key metrics to leadership.
  • Proactively identify risks and issues, coaching and mentoring staff to resolve problems efficiently and maintain high standards.
