Due to promotion, the Ophthalmology care group are looking for a Service Manager with proven operational and leadership experience in an acute hospital setting.
We are a tertiary referral centre and the region’s leading provider of eye care, providing care to over 190,000 patients each year across our outpatient, eye emergency, day case and theatre departments.
You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of these services as well as leading on service and patient pathway improvements and redesign, with support from the senior care group and divisional teams.

We are seeking a passionate individual to help us deliver patient-centred, world-class care.
In this role, you will be responsible for the effective daily operational management of our services, rapidly interpreting complex information, making decisions, and providing solutions or support to staff in response to pressures that may impact our services.
You will play an active role in shaping and delivering the strategic direction of the care group, identifying areas for service improvement, and leading projects to enhance patient safety, outcomes, and experience.
Alongside our associate operations managers, you will manage our admin and clerical staff within the care group, offering operational support and fostering a psychologically safe environment to promote their development and well-being.
You will need to establish good working relationships and collaborate with senior leads in the Outpatient Administration Centre to improve service delivery and achieve national and local KPIs, GIRFT, and performance targets.
This position is primarily based on-site at Southampton General Hospital (Monday to Friday), with the possibility of working from home on an ad hoc basis depending on operational workload.
