McInnis & Holloway Funeral Homes is an independent, progressive funeral home that embraces new ideas, fresh approaches, and new technology. McInnis & Holloway has ten locations in the community and has been one of Calgary and southern Alberta’s most respected funeral homes since 1903.
We are hiring for a Part Time, 15 hours a week, Service Office team member. This team is dedicated to supporting families in a professional and courteous manner. We are searching for someone with exceptional customer service and attention to detail to assist us with the families that we are honored to serve.

What you’ll do:

  • Have the responsibility of writing and editing a variety of funeral service documents such as a memorial book and service folder.
  • Liaise with families and churches/ facilities in the preparation for services
  • Answering first calls
  • Create document files that capture all details of individual services and costs
  • Answer telephone calls and in-person inquiries from families
  • Provide exceptional, kind, and empathetic customer service to caller seeking assistance
  • Use well-honed active listening skills to capture all relevant details

What you bring:

  • Deathcare experience and compassion
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Google Docs
  • Minimum 2 years of Administration, Customer Service, and Receptionist experience
  • Experience managing a multi-phone line for incoming and transferring calls
  • Ability to work independently
  • Flexibility to work on general holidays
  • Comfortable working in close contact with the deceased
  • Excellent communication skills (Phone & Email – Verbal & Written)
  • 5-Star Customer Service mindset
  • Strong administration and customer service skills
  • Extremely high ability to multitask and pivot between tasks with ease
  • Highly developed attention to detail with strong proofreading skills
  • Sensitivity to cultural practices
