Requirements The Service Order Dispatcher is responsible for receiving, recording, and distributing work and service orders for vehicle maintenance and repair in the Auto Shop. The Dispatcher serves as the central point of communication between customers, mechanics, and shop supervisor to ensure timely scheduling, accurate documentation, and efficient completion of service requests. This position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Receive, log, and process service requests for vehicle maintenance, repair, or inspection. Record detailed information such as customer name, vehicle type, issue reported, and service required. Prepare and issue work orders to Auto Shop personnel, ensuring accuracy and clarity of instructions. Dispatch work assignments to mechanics and monitor progress of open work orders. Schedule service calls, inspections, and repairs per operational requirements and shop workload. Relay updates, messages, or special instructions between mechanics, supervisors, and other departments. Track and update the status of work orders in the system, closing out upon completion. Maintain accurate records of service calls, repairs, work orders, and customer communications. Assist with prioritizing urgent repairs or emergency service orders. Support shop supervisors in monitoring workload distribution and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with shop safety and accountability procedures. Qualifications Knowledge of work order systems, dispatching procedures, and maintenance operations. Familiarity with vehicle maintenance terminology and processes preferred. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Effective communication skills for coordinating with mechanics, supervisors, and customers. Ability to manage multiple priorities and adjust schedules to meet operational demands. Proficiency with computers, scheduling tools, or maintenance management systems.
