Service Plumber IV Location: Site based at the mine in Pinto Valley, AZ Position Overview As a Service Plumber IV, you'll serve as a master-level trade leader and senior field expert in commercial plumbing service, working closely with General Foremen, Superintendents, and Project Managers to develop detailed service plans, resolve complex challenges proactively, and oversee high-profile repairs, installations, and maintenance across critical facilities nationwide. With full mastery of commercial plumbing systems (hydronic, domestic water, drainage, medical gas, backflow, boilers, and specialty piping), you'll lead crews on advanced calls, ensure exceptional quality/safety/compliance, mentor the team, and drive operational efficiency for sustainable, reliable building performance. Duties and Responsibilities * Collaborate directly with General Foreman, Superintendent, and Project Manager to develop project-specific service plans, labor/material requirements, sequencing, and risk assessments for complex plumbing service, repair, and installation jobs. * Perform detailed field surveys, condition assessments, and takeoffs; report findings in writing and recommend proactive solutions to prevent issues from escalating. * Plan, coordinate, and supervise on-site service functions including scheduling, material control, tool/equipment management, subcontractor coordination, and daily crew assignments. * Oversee and direct plumbing crews daily: delegate tasks based on capabilities, monitor progress, provide daily completion percentages, and prepare weekly reports (safety/toolbox, production, preconstruction, project-specific). * Conduct thorough jobsite inspections to ensure compliance with plumbing codes (IPC/UPC), Modigent standards, manufacturer specifications, and client requirements; participate in system startups, functional testing, commissioning, and closeout coordination with engineers, subcontractors, owners, and vendors. * Assure full adherence to safety protocols across the crew: lead hazard assessments, enforce PPE usage, document incidents, notify leadership, and implement corrective actions immediately. * Train and mentor new and existing plumbers on latest industry practices, codes, safety standards, advanced techniques (e.g., medgas, backflow, hydronic balancing), and quality workmanship to maintain peak performance and continuous improvement. * Resolve escalated technical issues, customer concerns, and field conflicts; make decisions that support project success, profitability, and client satisfaction. Supervisory Responsibilities Yes – Provides direct leadership and supervision to plumbing service crews and subordinate plumbers (Levels I–III); delegates tasks, coaches/mentors team members, monitors performance/safety/compliance, resolves conflicts, and collaborates with other field leadership to ensure project alignment and excellence. Requirements/Qualifications * Experience: 5+ years (typically 8–10+ years preferred) in commercial plumbing service, repair, installation, and maintenance with full mastery of all technical aspects; proven experience leading crews, planning service execution, and managing complex jobs. * Education: High school diploma or GED required; trade school, apprenticeship completion, or equivalent strongly preferred. * Certifications/Licenses: Valid journeyman or master plumber license (or ability to obtain in assigned jurisdiction); backflow prevention certification required; medical gas certification preferred; valid driver's license and clean driving record required. * Physical Demands: Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 lbs, climb ladders/scaffolding/stairs, work in confined spaces or at heights, bend/kneel/crouch, reach overhead, and use tools/equipment for extended periods; frequent standing, walking, manual dexterity, and physical stamina required to handle high-stress, fast-paced environments. * Work Environment/Safety: Primarily field-based in commercial/industrial settings (indoor/outdoor, mechanical rooms, rooftops, varying weather); exposure to noise, dust, heights, water, sewage, chemicals, and confined-space hazards; must strictly adhere to OSHA regulations, plumbing codes, conduct hazard identification, and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, respirators (as needed), and steel-toed boots at all times—safety is our top priority and non-negotiable. This is a safety-sensitive position. Frequent regional travel within assigned market, on-call rotations, and flexible hours (including evenings/weekends/emergencies) may be required as business needs dictate. Required Skills * Mastery-level troubleshooting, repair, and installation across all commercial plumbing systems (hydronic, domestic, drainage, medgas, backflow, boilers/pumps). * Advanced project planning/takeoffs, field surveying, crew supervision/training/mentoring, and performance monitoring. * Excellent written/verbal communication, reporting/documentation, negotiation, and follow-through with customers, management, inspectors, and stakeholders. * Safety leadership (OSHA 30-hour preferred), code compliance mastery (IPC/UPC), decision-making under pressure, and professionalism/self-motivation. * Proficiency with plumbing tools, diagnostic equipment, pressure testing, and digital reporting systems.
