Minneapolis, Minnesota POSITION: Service Quality & Test Engineer II DEPARTMENT: Service Engineering PRIMARY OBJECTIVE of POSITION: The Service Quality & Test Engineer II independently leads quality reviews, inspections, and test planning for service projects, ensuring compliance with OEM and industry standards. This role develops and executes inspection and test plans, maintains calibration programs, and provides direct technical support to service projects, customers, and vendors. The Service Quality & Test Engineer II serves as a subject matter resource for quality-related issues and collaborates across departments to deliver reliable service outcomes. MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: Develops and generate inspection and test plans for service repair and field projects. Maintains calibration programs for gauges, test instruments, and inspection equipment. Audits shop work, service partners, and suppliers to ensure compliance with quality standards and specifications. Performs on-site inspections and witness tests at customer and partner locations. Collaborates with service purchasing, production planning, and field service teams to ensure alignment on project quality. Reviews and approve documentation for quality compliance and testing results. Analyzes nonconformance reports, recommend corrective actions, and follow up on implementation. Mentors’ junior engineers (Service Quality & Test Engineer I) on test methods and quality requirements. Reviews complex customer specifications to identify the required testing, quality controls, and material traceability requirements to aid service application engineers with developing costing for service projects. Supports Service Engineering, Service Project Management, and Field Service to collect and analyze data from service projects to develop test reports and recommended repair plans. This includes working with PPC to define inspection hold points, ensuring testers and inspectors are collecting the required information, writing incoming repair reports for in-house repair, and reviewing field service reports to assist with technical recommendations/machinery health assessments. Performs other activities related to the responsibilities above as required by the Team Leader, Senior Team Members, or Service Manager. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: B.S. in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience. 3–5 years of experience in service engineering, quality engineering, or test engineering. Knowledge of industry standards (ISO 9001, IEEE, NEMA) and quality assurance practices. Strong understanding of calibration methods, inspection techniques, and test equipment. Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to interface directly with customers and suppliers. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP (or similar ERP systems). Ability to travel up to 25% (domestic and international). Physical Requirements: Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities. This requires climbing stairs and moving over, around, and about shop machinery. Have the physical ability to lift and carry up to 45 pounds unassisted. Must be able to climb stairs.
