Summary: Service Technicians diagnose and repair technical problems with milking systems and perform general maintenance and service tasks on customer farms. Primary Duties/ Responsibilities: Diagnose technical problems and determine proper solutions for equipment that can include, but is not limited to; sorting gates, herd management equipment such as cow scout, milk tanks, and other associated equipment. Provide service/customer support during field visits or dispatches. Perform necessary electrical maintenance and service tasks. Collaborate with service/sales colleagues when needed. Tie “workflow” to your daily schedule. Produce timely and detailed service reports. Communicate with Service Manager if/when a follow up call is required. Engage in continued education when necessary (as requested by your branch manager) Keep accurate records and files. Remain reliable during your “on call” timeframes. Build positive rapport and relationships with our customer base. Observe all bio-security measures. Keep abreast of the latest methods for producing/ selling high quality milk. Follow all company procedures and protocols. Maintain a professional image. Be a positive part of the F&T team. Other duties as assigned. Requirements Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to develop professional relationships with all internal and external customers and vendors. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills. Proficient time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines. Ability to prioritize tasks. Capacity to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment. Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail. Self-starter able to work independently and as part of a team. Demonstrate a thorough understanding of the technical aspects of the job. Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade. Basic computer skills including exposure to Microsoft, Google and other related software systems. Education and Experience: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum one year previous trade experience including but not limited to mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, automation, welding, etc. Prior dairy experience strongly preferred. Must possess a valid Driver’s License and can safely operate a motor vehicle within DMV and DOT guidelines. Physical Requirements: Flexibility to reach, bend, stretch, kneel, squat, and or crawl to perform repairs and inspections. Must be able to lift/push/pull 70 pounds at times. Must be able to climb a ladder and or work using scaffolding. Must be able to do fine manipulation with hands.
