SERVICE TECHNICIAN - FORKLIFTS & COMPACT EQUIPMENT

Position Overview: Hurricane is seeking skilled and motivated Service Technicians to join our team. As a Service Technician, you will provide essential technical support, troubleshooting, and repair services for forklifts, compact equipment, and other material handling and industrial machinery. Your role will be critical in ensuring our customers receive reliable and efficient service, whether on-site, at our facilities, or in the field.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Certifications & Education: Safety certifications, Grade 12 education, and a valid driver’s license are required. A diploma in Automotive or Heavy-Duty Diesel Technology from a recognized community college is preferred. Red Seal certification is a strong asset.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of experience as a service technician, preferably in material handling or industrial equipment.
  • Skills: Strong technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently. Effective communication and customer service skills are essential.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and travel to various customer sites within the Atlantic Provinces.

Responsibilities
  • Technical Service & Repairs: Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on forklifts and compact equipment. Prioritize billable jobs and complete work efficiently to meet or exceed productivity targets.
  • Customer Interaction: Maintain professional, dependable service on customer sites, supplier locations, and Hurricane facilities. Engage with customers to identify additional service opportunities and promote value-added services such as maintenance contracts and safety inspections.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Service Coordinator, Parts Manager, and Field Service Manager to ensure smooth operations. Provide timely feedback on work orders, scheduling, and any issues affecting service delivery.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, company policies, and relevant regulatory requirements. Maintain a clean, organized, and secure work environment, including the upkeep of service vehicles and tools.
  • Documentation: Complete work orders and inspections using smartphone technology. Ensure that all documentation is detailed, accurate, and submitted promptly to the Service Coordinator.
  • Continuous Improvement: Participate in ongoing training and stay updated on the latest service technology. Actively seek opportunities to enhance your skills and service offerings.
