Description Summary The Service and Equipment Technician is responsible for actively participating in Service Department operations (i.e. customer relations, sales, repair, service, maintenance, parts, and tools for equipment product lines), aligning business objectives and customer needs while safely performing job duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Collaborate with the Inside and Outside Sales Teams providing information as needed to ensure quality customer service as it relates to service, equipment, tools, and parts product line inquiries. Research and maintain a working knowledge of sales activity, service, tools, and equipment reporting findings to customers or employees. Professionally handle incoming sales, service, and repair requests and ensure issues are resolved both promptly and thoroughly. Grow sales by understanding customer needs, assessing marketplace activity, past and present trend information, and identifying sales opportunities. Conduct ongoing promotion of the company with a focus on the Service and Equipment Department by attending product conferences and seminars, and educating customers or employees on equipment, service, and tool product lines. Perform preventative maintenance scheduling, quality, and customer satisfaction. Perform a variety of skilled duties involving inspection, diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of equipment. Read and interpret specifications and manuals to correct mechanical malfunctions (i.e. referring to blueprints, repair manuals, parts catalogs, schematic drawings, etc.). Operate or test machinery and equipment to diagnose mechanical malfunctions and ensure proper functioning. Use hand tools, power tools, and other equipment to perform repair and replace defective equipment parts. Attend and participate in Sales Meetings (as needed) to maintain a working knowledge of customer, department, and organizational information. Assist customers in a smooth and efficient manner to adhere to all protocols in line with organization goals strategy and values. Continuously evaluate and identify opportunities to drive process improvements that positively impact the customer’s experience. When needed, participate in company meetings to exchange product information and coordinate work activities with other departments. Communicates in a professional, respectful, and courteous manner with all employees, customers, and others with whom we may work. Contributes to a successful workgroup and fosters a team-oriented culture through positive interactions, active listening, meaningful collaborations, high employee engagement, and the constructive exchange of ideas designed to meet or exceed the organization’s strategic goals. Complete service and sales-related documents and reports in a timely manner to record sale, repair, or service type and cost. Assist with the effective maintenance of parts and tools inventory, ordering, and delivery of all necessary supplies and equipment for the department. Research and evaluate all current and potential products or equipment used for service, repair, and maintenance compiling quotes as requested. Utilize computerized data entry equipment and various word processing, spreadsheet, and file maintenance programs to enter, store and/or retrieve information. Coordinate time to determine priorities in order to effectively accomplish a broad range of activities. Operate office machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice mail systems, and personal computers while following Company Confidentiality requirements. Follow all Company Policies, Procedures, and Protocols. Other duties will be assigned during the course of employment. Requirements Qualifications Strong mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic skills and knowledge Verified previous hands-on mechanical diagnoses and repair experience Valid driver’s license Ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate effectively in the English language Ability to handle complaints and customers using decision-making and analytical skills Previous experience using Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and Access Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, interpersonal skills, and ability to professionally complete a variety of tasks safely Ability to work independently on assigned tasks as well as to accept direction on given assignments. Ability to work collectively with team members Professional appearance Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or GED preferred OR Technical degree in mechanics or similar field of study. A strong technical background with a good working knowledge of the packaging industry and operations.
