Job Details Level: Experienced Position Type: Full-Time/Part-Time Travel Percentage: Up to 75% Job Classification Job Type: Full-Time Location: Remote FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports To: Warranty Manager Job Summary The Modification Technician is responsible for performing crane modifications for customers and distributors. This position is based remotely, but heavy domestic travel is involved. Key Responsibilities • Performing Tadano issued modifications for Customers and Distributors • Installation, testing, and troubleshooting of components on cranes. • Works with high and low voltage batteries and management systems. • Performs, complete inspections in accordance with standard industry practices, specifications and factory guidelines. • Completes necessary paperwork of service provided. Paperwork includes service reports, warranty reports, time sheets, parts requests and expense reports. • Performs other labor as needed to maintain an orderly, safe and efficient work environment. • May perform other duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the organization. • Actively works for constant improvement through more efficient and less expensive ways to carry out different work processes. • Reports irregular issues and problems to management for a solution. • Maintains good communication with other managers, staff, and outside contacts. • Complies with all company policies and procedures. • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe working area. • Maintains high ethical standards in the workplace. Qualifications • Technical diploma from college or technical school or equivalent alternative education/experience with 6-8+ years of experience. Relevant technical certificate is a plus. • Mechanical and electrical skills. • Proven knowledge of electrical systems including LIN, CAN, 12v and 24v systems. • Ability to diagnose problems with equipment. • Proficient with the use of mechanical and electrical diagnosing equipment to perform service work. • Ability to read and interpret electrical/hydraulic/pneumatic schemes. • Ability to read and understand technical drawings. • Ability to communicate technical errors to non-technical people. Ability to travel and work according to a changing schedule. Pay Range Estimated Salary Range: $70,000 - $80,000 annually (DOE) Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Requirements This position requires extensive domestic travel, including prolonged periods of driving and frequent work at customer and distributor sites. The role involves standing for extended periods and regularly climbing stairs and ladders to access crane components. Technicians may be exposed to loud noises and varying field conditions. The ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 50–100 pounds is required, with assistance or mechanical aids available as needed. Manual dexterity is essential, as the role requires frequent use of hand tools and diagnostic equipment.
