About the Role This position plays a key role in the customer experience by serving as the communication bridge between customers and the service team. The Service Writer ensures repair needs are accurately documented, customers are kept informed, and repair orders are managed with professionalism and efficiency. You’ll be part of a service department that prides itself on integrity, teamwork, and a strong work ethic. Key Responsibilities Customer Experience Welcome customers and support them with a professional, friendly attitude Build trust by listening to customer concerns and offering clear, helpful communication Collaborate across departments to ensure smooth customer interactions Keep workspace clean and organized Communicate customer service opportunities or concerns to management Service Writing Accurately document service needs and vehicle issues Perform unit inspections and verify maintenance history Generate detailed repair orders and estimates using Lightspeed Maintain regular communication with customers on job status and approvals Identify additional service opportunities to help customers protect their investment Manage sublet repairs and vendor coordination as needed Additional Responsibilities Take ownership of new duties as assigned Flex as needed to support the growing needs of the team and dealership Requirements Requirements Prior experience as a Service Writer (marine or powersports industry preferred) General knowledge of boating products and marine engines Familiarity with dealership software (Lightspeed experience a plus) Ability to learn quickly and stay organized in a fast-paced environment Strong written and verbal communication skills Team-oriented with a proactive, solution-focused mindset Working Conditions Full-time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Primarily office-based with occasional time in the service shop May require overtime based on seasonal workload Must be able to sit for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs Physical tasks may include bending, kneeling, and reaching
