This role operates independently under general supervision and is responsible for implementing, maintaining, and improving configuration controls that support reliable service delivery. The role emphasizes hands-on execution of CMDB design, ServiceNow development, and integration with monitoring and discovery tools such as ScienceLogic, while supporting defined Configuration Management processes, documentation, and lifecycle control. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Configuration Management Execution Designs and maintains Configuration Management documentation, procedures, and records. Ensures accurate CI identification, classification, and lifecycle tracking within the CMDB. Reviews and implements configuration requirements derived from contracts, programs, and operational needs. Supports configuration control during system development and operational phases. Maintains configuration records and relationships to support impact analysis and change execution. ServiceNow CMDB Administration & Development Builds and maintains ServiceNow CMDB structures including CI classes, relationships, and attributes. Develops ServiceNow components such as custom tables, forms, reports, transform maps, scheduled jobs, and flows. Implements ServiceNow Service Mapping under established architecture and governance. Performs CMDB data normalization, reconciliation, and remediation activities. Develops scripts and automation to reduce manual CI management. Business Services Builds and maintains Business Services in ServiceNow by associating applications, infrastructure, and supporting CIs under established standards. Maintains service-to-CI relationships to support impact analysis across Incident, Change, and Event Management. Ensures Business Services remain accurate through CMDB validation, relationship remediation, and discovery reconciliation. Collaborates with Application and Operations teams to onboard and maintain operationally usable Business Services. Discovery & Monitoring Integration Supports integration between discovery and monitoring platforms (e.g., ScienceLogic) and the ServiceNow CMDB. Configures data ingestion, transform logic, and reconciliation rules under defined standards. Maintains CI update workflows based on discovery and event data. Validates accuracy and completeness of discovered configuration data. Application Development Support (Configuration-Focused) Supports development and configuration of applications that rely on CMDB and configuration data. Develops scripts, integrations, and enhancements to support ITSM and ITOM capabilities. Assists with application testing, deployment, and enhancement activities. Troubleshoots and resolves configuration-related application issues. Release & Automation Support Develops tools and scripts to support build, release, and deployment processes. Supports CI/CD initiatives through configuration automation and data accuracy. Ensures integrity of configuration data supporting production releases. Collaboration & Mentorship Collaborates with Engineering, Operations, Change, and Asset Management teams. Provides guidance to junior Configuration Analysts as needed. May serve as a task or workstream lead. TECHNICAL SKILL AND QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree. Experience: 3+ years of experience with ServiceNow development, CMDB management, or configuration management processes. Proficiency in ServiceNow components, including CMDB, Service Mapping, and Transform Maps. Strong scripting skills (JavaScript, PowerShell, or similar) for automation and customization. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous integration practices. ADDITIONAL SKILLS (PREFERRED) Certification in ServiceNow (e.g., ServiceNow Certified System Administrator). ITIL certification or strong understanding of ITIL principles. Experience with agile development methodologies. Knowledge of service discovery tools and techniques. The likely salary range for this position is $85,093 - $97,856. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
