Trainee weekly wages from $26.61 per hour The opportunity We have an important job maintaining our most precious assets - water, health, and the environment – and this is your chance to be involved. Our water teams play a critical role in ensuring a continual supply of quality water with minimal interruptions to communities. No two days will be the same as you head out across the Wellington region undertaking a mix of planned and reactive works where you'll: Install and repair water connections on all sizes of mains Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with trade practice Flush and charge water mains Work together with various teams and contractors to achieve results What’s in it for you? We offer ongoing training, development, and support to gain industry recognised qualifications and certifications Significant career pathways and supportive people leaders The ability for extra earning through overtime and on call work Company benefits depend on employer (Fulton Hogan or Wellington Water) A commitment to your health, safety, and wellbeing A busy, challenging, and fulfilling job making an impact for generations to come About you To be successful in this role you will bring: Experience in the water industry or the civil/construction industry, with the ability to use hand tools, small plant and machinery The ability to use technology (i.e. iPad or tablet) to record information An understanding and commitment to health and safety in the workplace A full, clean driver’s licence (you must have a full class 1 licence to be considered), Class 2, W,T,F endorsements would be advantageous First Aid, Confined Spaces, working at height certificates would be beneficial You need to be reliable, and bring a hard-working attitude with you The flexibility to work overtime and on a roster than includes shift work/ on call A willingness to complete further studies and work towards the Connexis Infrastructure works qualification. Responsibilities
The serviceperson will install and repair water connections on mains while ensuring all work adheres to trade practices. They will also perform flushing and charging of water mains while collaborating with various teams to maintain community water supply.
