Description:
THE BRANDON UNIVERSITY STUDENTS’ UNION (BUSU) IS LOOKING FOR A MOTIVATED AND HARDWORKING INDIVIDUAL TO FILL THE POSITION OF SERVICES COORDINATOR.
This position is 40 hours per week with work hours typically being Monday – Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm within the BUSU Office located on the Brandon University campus in the Knowles Douglas Student Union Building.
Wage: $20/hour plus health & dental and additional benefits. Must be willing to start as soon as possible.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
Must have a minimum Grade 12 and two (2) years’ directly related experience or a comparable combination of education and experience is required.
The ideal candidate must have demonstrated excellence with written and oral communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, and a passion for providing warm, professional service to all stakeholders. Must be a highly motivated, resourceful individual with strong prioritization skills and impeccable attention to detail who is a proven team player and works well with minimal supervision. Proficiency with Microsoft products (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) and Zoom video conferencing is required.
Must be willing to learn and maintain an extensive knowledge of BUSU’s governing documents: Constitution, Bylaws, and Policies as well as BU’s Academic and Non Academic Policies and Procedures; to ensure organizational efficiency.
Experience in the following areas is considered strong assets: management, student organizations, small office settings, Not-for-Profit Organizations, Board of Directors, University settings and University student life.

Responsibilities:
Office operations, purchasing, reception, and administrative duties. Supervising, training, and scheduling Office Assistants and the enforcement of office administrative policies, procedures, and tasks. Providing reports regarding BUSU services and staffing and maintaining BUSU office and services records.
Serving as secretary for the BUSU Board and all sub committees and maintaining all BUSU Bylaws, Policies and Standing Procedures in conjunction with the Vice President Operations
Managing the Union’s services such as KDC Building Bookings and Key Card Access, Office Services, U-Pass, Paw Pass, Lost and Found, Campus Cupboard, BU Now, Job Postings and coordinating and overseeing the production of the BUSU Handbook. Administering the Staff and Student Health and Dental Plan, including student communications, general maintenance, processing opt-ins/outs, and assisting with claims.
Acting as the official Student Advocate by providing advice, advocacy, and support to all members of the BUSU. This includes assisting with academic misconduct allegations, appeals, understanding policies and procedures, and preparations, mediations, and representation at hearings. It also includes assisting students in understanding their rights in other matters relating to student life, which may include bullying, discrimination, harassment, sexual harassment, victimization, or vilification.
Serving as a liaison between BUSU and administration of the University, developing and maintaining a good working relationship, and when appropriate lobbying them on behalf of BUSU, as well as serving as staff liaison between BUSU and the Canadian Federation of Students.
Assisting with the development and implementation of all objectives, priorities, events and campaigns of the Union and any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
