SUPPORT SENIORS TO FEEL SAFE & LOVE LIFE!

SHIFTS: Combination of weekend and weekday shifts, and STAT holidays. We are open every day of the year.
Shifts range from 10:00 am-6:30 pm and 11:00 am-7:30 pm.
Food Prep experience/willing to be trained is required for staff relief due to illness, vacations, etc.
Avalon’s banquet-style Dining Room is open 7 days a week for Lunch and Dinner: Our Food Service operates daily, 365 days a year. Avalon Gardens is a senior-living condo that provides banquet style dining, housekeeping (in-suite and common areas), maintenance, & recreation services. A love for seniors is the key to our success.
Job Description:
· Flexible to cover Dishwashing, Busser/Simple Serving, & Food Preparation (e.g. making sandwiches & chopping vegetables)
· Maintain record logs required by Fraser Health and Avalon Gardens according to daily routines and complete checklists and log reports.
· Follow the Supervisor’s instruction and enjoy resident interaction in the Dining Room is essential.
· Ability to report concerns to your Supervisor.
· Dishwashing: Clean up after oneself, wash dishes efficiently, pay close attention to the cleanliness of the dishes washed, and support the Food Services team as needed.
· Room service delivery.
· Take orders & serve from a limited restaurant-style menu.
· Clean as you go: Maintain kitchen cleaning to excellent standards, as well as exceptional Food Safe standards.
· Special events: Help with brunches, catering or any other special events assigned.
· High standards of Health & Safety, Food Safety & informing Supervisor of Maintenance issues is expected.
· Demonstrates excellent public relations and consistently shows courtesy, caring, understanding, compassion and respect to residents, families, visitors & the Avalon team.
· Ongoing education: Participation in ongoing educational programs (e.g., health & safety).
· Performs other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE:

· Basic restaurant training (preferred)
· 1 years in a food establishment an asset

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Fluent written and spoken English language.
· Criminal Record Check info (requirement for working with Vulnerable Citizens) -valid within the past 6 months. Apply for reimbursement.
· Tuberculosis (TB) Test Screening (book appointment at Medical Travel Clinic; doctor referral may be required) -valid within the past 6 months. Apply for reimbursement.·
· Uniform Requirements (e.g. black slip resistant shoes, black pants)
· Follow FoodSafe as well as Health and Safety policies and procedures
· Valid First Aid certificate an asset.
· Fit and able to stand for long periods of time
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds (i.e. box of potatoes)
· Good organizational skills
· Professional attitude and appearance, strong interpersonal skills and a team player
· Dependable and reliable
Health Benefits: Available to staff PERMANENTLY SCHEDULED for 25 plus weekly hours after successful completion of a 3-month probationary period.
