  • Are vulnerable or at risk.
  • Present unacceptable or challenging behaviour.
  • Are excluded from, or failing to engage in, education.
  • Lack confidence, self-esteem and/or social skills.
  • Are involved, or at risk of becoming involved, with the Law.

We are looking for an Engagement Worker who is experienced in supporting young people and vulnerable adults, to engage informally with children and young people e.g., a country walk, coffee, and chat, sharing hobbies, visiting local museums, swimming, sports, etc. on a self-employed sessional basis, for three days per week, primarily in term time. Sessions will always be for a minimum of two hours and can be for six weeks or can continue for over 12 months, depending on the needs of the young person.
You would be fully trained and insured by us to work safely with young people. You will need to hold a full UK driving license and have access to your own vehicle. The successful applicant(s) would also need to obtain Business Car Insurance and be prepared to travel for which mileage will be paid. For this particular position we will be seeking someone who is based in North Cornwall.
As well as your own transport, some of the most important qualities needed are patience, a sense of humour, the ability to adapt to changing circumstances and a commitment to supporting vulnerable children, young people and sometime adults, in a non-judgemental mentoring role. Formal qualifications are not essential; however, would be advantageous. If you are at all interested or want to know more about our work, please visit www.whitegoldcornwall.co.uk
You will need to be IT literate and able to use a laptop and associated programs as we are now using a new Case Management System which all staff will be required to use. White Gold Cornwall will provide all the necessary hardware required.
