Aga Khan University invites applications for part-time Sessional Faculty positions for the upcoming semester. We are seeking passionate and qualified educators for five distinct courses: Mathematics for Economists Econometrics Applied Statistics / Introduction to Statistics ICT for Social Inquiry / Introduction to Data Science Civic Responsibility in a Globalized World / Comparative Civic Politics This is a semester-based teaching appointment, with responsibilities for all aspects of course delivery. Responsibilities: You will be responsible for: Teaching one to two undergraduate-level courses. Preparing and delivering lectures, leading classroom discussions, and assessing student learning. Engaging students using effective, inclusive, and experiential teaching practices. Participating in basic departmental coordination related to the course (e.g., grading policies, academic calendar). Ensuring that all course outlines and assessments are managed within the Moodle Virtual Learning Environment. Qualifications & Experience: Required Expertise by Course: 1. Mathematics for Economists: Required Proficiency: Mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, and Economics. Experience: Demonstrated experience teaching or applying quantitative methods in economic analysis or related disciplines. 2. Econometrics: Required Proficiency: Mathematics, Quantitative Reasoning, and Economics. Experience: Familiarity with statistical software and econometric modeling; experience teaching or applying econometric methods in research or practice. 3. Applied Statistics / Introduction to Statistics: Required Proficiency: Applied Statistics, Probability, and Quantitative Analysis. Experience: Experience teaching or applying statistical techniques to real-world data; familiarity with statistical software (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA). 4. ICT for Social Inquiry / Introduction to Data Science: Required Proficiency: Data Science, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), and Social Inquiry. Experience: Experience integrating data science methods into social research; familiarity with data visualization and analytics tools (e.g., Python, R, Power BI, Tableau). Note: Open to alternative course suggestions relevant to digital methods, computational social science, or data-driven research in social contexts. 5. Civic Responsibility in a Globalized World / Comparative Civic Politics: Required Proficiency: Civic Engagement, Comparative Politics, Global Citizenship, and Public Policy. Experience: Background in teaching or working on civic education, community engagement, or political systems; experience designing participatory learning experiences or civic projects. Note: Open to alternative course suggestions aligned with civic engagement, governance, or global development themes. Requirements You should have: A Master’s degree in a relevant field from an HEC-recognized institution. Demonstrated university-level teaching experience. Excellent classroom teaching skills and a strong grasp of undergraduate pedagogy. A commitment to the principles of interdisciplinary and liberal arts education. Outstanding verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
