Course Number and Title: FAH230H1F Renaissance Art and Architecture
Course Description: A selective survey of the major art centres and types of artistic and architectural production in Italy and northern Europe, from the early fifteenth century to the mid-sixteenth. Themes include the relations-artistic, economic and ideological-between northern and southern Europe during this period, the changing role of art in religious life, the emergence of secular themes, and the legacies left by Renaissance art to modern life and culture.

Hours of Work: 110 hours
Salary: $54.27/hour (plus vacation pay)

Sessional Dates of Appointment: September 2, 2025 to December 23, 2025; Final Assessment period December 5 - 23, 2025.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- MA in Art History or a related field is required; PhD in Art History is strongly preferred.
- Teaching, writing, and communication skills in the history of art are required.
- Demonstrated experience in the variety of writing genres and styles associated with art history, including museum exhibitions, publications, reviews, criticism, academic analysis, popular print, and media.
- Demonstrated experience supporting students’ academic writing skills.
- At least two years of experience creating and marking undergraduate writing exercises and/or undergraduate essays in art history.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous teaching experience in this or a similar course in the University of Toronto Art History Department.
Duties: Attending weekly lectures (in-person); grading student work; tabulating and tracking grades; invigilating tests and exams; holding office hours for regular meetings with students.
